Designed by Gerrit Thomas Rietveld in 1934 and quickly becoming a design icon, the Zig Zag chair represents one of the first examples of a cantilevered solid wood seat, formed by four planes in a rhythmic sequence that come together in an apparent instability of extreme refinement
The stylistic uniqueness of the object finds its maximum expression in the colored version, treated with an open pore finish that enhances the grain of the wood. It was one of the first examples reissued by Cassina, which marked the launch of the IMaestri Collection in 1973
