Cassina Civil Bench with wooden structure and Vienna straw seat
Part of Cassina's study on the furnishings of the city of Chandigarh, the Civil Bench in Vienna straw, a tribute to Pierre Jeanneret, it is characterized by essential shapes and simple materials in balance between modern European ideals and the traditional Indian spirit
The original model, created for the accommodation of the members of the Legislative Assembly of the Indian city, consists of a seat with a structure in solid wood supported by two lateral supports in the shape of an inverted "V"; elements which, together with the characteristic caning of the Vienna straw seat, become a distinctive feature of the entire Collection. The iconic solid wood bench published by Cassina offers the historic teak structure or in two variants in natural oak and black-stained oak made in the company's historic carpentry shop. It can also be equipped with an optional cushion to ensure greater comfort
